ALTON — No injuries were reported Tuesday morning when a motorist crashed into an Alton business.

At 10 a.m. Tuesday, Alton firefighters were called to the Mr. Nice Guy smoke shop at 2801 Homer Adams Parkway in Alton after a motorist turned the business into a drive-through, crashing a Hyundai Tucson through a plate glass window and driving it inside, hitting glass casses filled with glass pipes and other items.

The 80-year-old driver told police her foot slipped from the brake to the gas pedal while she was trying to park. She escaped injury.

An employee inside the store at the time of the crash was shaken up by the incident but also was uninjured.

Alton firefighters swept up some of the glass Tuesday morning, but cleanup was going to be a big job for the store which claims to be the "Biggest Head Shop in the World." Mr. Nice Guy was closed the rest of Tuesday.
