OnePlus Ace Pro Review: Premium phone with flagship chipset

On December 16, 2013, Pete Lau and Carl Pei launched OnePlus. It is a Shenzhen, Guangdong-based manufacturer of consumer electronics. It is fully owned by Oppo, which is a division of BBK Electronics. B esides its Flagship 'Oneplus series' and budget-oriented 'Nord series', the OnePlus company has launched the 'Ace' series. OnePlus Ace Pro is the latest edition of this series. It was launched in August 2022 in India. Let’s take a look at the key specs, pros, and cons of the OnePlus Ace Pro.

OnePlus’s latest Ace Pro phone comes in two color variants, Jade Green and Moonstone Black. The phone has a curved glass back, while the middle frame is made of plastic. Among these two variations, the jade green uses a “Drilling and Double AG Process,” which is considered the world’s first smartphone to use this feature. The other variant’s surface is bright as it uses the industry’s first “Glazed Glass Technology.”

The phone is 8.75 mm thick and weighs 203.5 grams which is a satisfactory level for OnePlus fans. The back of the phone contains a square camera panel that contains three cameras and a flash.

You will get the on-off button on the right side of the phone, while the left side contains volume rockers, just like the common iPhone models.

The charging port and built-in speakers are located on the bottom. Overall, the phone gives an eye-soothing design, which can be a great choice for the young generation. No matter what color variation you pick, Ace Pro will surely meet the aesthetic requirements of customers.

OnePlus Ace Pro is equipped with Fluid AMOLED along with 1B color and 120Hz refresh rate. So, the display is bright enough even under scorching sunlight. Other display features include 800 nits (HBM), 500 nits (typ), and 950 nits (peak).

The display size is 6.7 inches which is 108.0 cm2. And the screen-to-body ratio is approximately 87.9%. Hence, there is still some space in the frame. Hence, it gives an elegant look. It also comes with excellent resolution. 

You will get 1080 x 2415 pixels resolution with ~394 PPI density, which gives you an amazing view for gaming and taking high-resolution photos. Finally, the display is protected with corning gorilla glass 5. Hence, it gives you a sort of scratch-proof design, but it is recommended to use tempered glass for ultimate safety.

The best thing about the OnePlus Ace Pro is that it has a triple camera setup containing a 50 MP main camera, 8 MP ultrawide camera, and 2 MP macro lens. While the main camera’s sensor is 23.6 mm wide, the ultra-wide 8 MP camera’s Field of View (FOV) can cover up to 119.9˚.

The phone also features a dual LED flash for taking bright photos at night. The triple camera will let you take HDR images as well as a panorama. In addition to that, you can take photos in different modes available in the camera app. Ace Pro also records excellent 4K video at 30/60fps as the 50MP camera uses Sony IMX766 CMOS. 

Other camera features include 1080p video recording at 30/60/240fps and gyro-EIS. The cameras also support OIS (optical image stabilization). Another exclusive feature is that it comes with a night scene algorithm + ICE capture 2.0.

The phone also features a 16 MP selfie camera located on the screen. This camera can get you HDR selfies with different camera modes. In addition to that, you can also take selfies 1080p videos at 30fps.

The phone is equipped with Qualcomm SM8475 Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, which is boosted with LPDDR5 memory along with UFS 3.1 flash storage. This combination helps Ace Pro run on Android 12 and ColorOS 12.1 smoothly. It is supported by Adreno 730 and an octa-core CPU.

So, you will feel the difference when you use the phone. This hardware combination will give you an excellent performance boost for any kind of heavy application, from gaming to photo processing apps.

While the phone doesn’t have any option for an external card slot, it comes with three different memory variations. You can choose from 256GB 12GB RAM, 256GB 16GB RAM and 512GB 16GB RAM. All of these are UFS 3.1 flash storage.

The Ace Pro is loaded with a 4800mAh nonremovable battery that supports 150W fast charging. The battery is so powerful that the continuous 5 hours of use will eat up around 50% of the charge. The fast-charging future lets the battery charge to 44% in just five minutes.

Additionally, the battery can get 73% to full juice in just 17 minutes. So, you can say that the fast-charging feature will keep the phone ahead of the competitors.

The design and performance of the OnePlus Ace Pro indicate that it focuses on mainstream mobile gamers who spend hours playing games from the comfort of their couch. The 1 billion display colors, gyro, acetometer, and proximity with color spectrum all make this phone perfect for any gamer. However, OnePlus is also bringing a game-centric customized phone in October to provide an exclusive gaming experience.

OnePlus Ace Pro has set a different price for three different memory variations. The 12GB + 256GB will cost around $518 or BDT 52,970 ($1 =102.26 BDT). The 16GB + 256GB will cost around $563 or BDT 57,571 ($1 = 102.26 BDT) and 16GB + 512GB is $634 or BDT 64,832 (102.26 BDT). The official price of this device in Bangladesh may vary due to diverse issues.

Like any other device, the Oneplus Ace Pro has some limitations.

There is no card slot for memory expansion on the OnePlus Ace Pro. It weighs 203.5 g (7.20 oz), is a little heavy, and lacks a 3.5 mm jack. It lacks an FM radio, a barometer, a temperature sensor, and other features. It only offers two colors Moonstone Black and Jade Green does not offer Infrared and is not dust- or water-resistant.

Whether you are a pro gamer or a tech guy who needs to use different apps smoothly, the OnePlus Ace Pro is perfect for both users. In addition to that with the triple camera combination with a 16 MP selfie camera, the phone also holds the attention of photogenic people.

Ace Pro has no significant drawbacks. However, its weight can dishearten those who prefer lightweight phones. The provision of 3.5mm jacks and dust-water resistance could make it a better deal.
