T homas O’Rourke was fined €100

A DUBLIN man who broke a glass panel in a door had spent St Patrick’s Day in his local pub drinking and watching the races at Cheltenham, a court heard.

T homas O’Rourke (28) was “more reckless than anything” when he broke the glass, his solicitor said.

Judge David McHugh convicted and fined O’Rourke €100, after he paid for the damage he caused.

The defendant, with an address at Whitechapel Road in Clonsilla, admitted causing criminal damage at Salmon’s Pub, Mountview Road in Blanchardstown on March 17, 2022.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Blanchardstown District Court that O’Rourke broke a glass panel in a door, causing €80 worth of damage.

The court heard O’Rourke had five previous convictions, but had not been in trouble for nearly seven years.

Defence solicitor John O’Doherty said this incident took place on St Patrick’s Day. He said O’Rourke had been in his local pub drinking and watching the races at Cheltenham.

He was not a big drinker, Mr O’Doherty said.

O’Rourke had already paid for the damage he caused and he apologised for his behaviour.
